Speaking for the first time in public Sunday night on the eve of the inauguration of the Sofitel in Vienna, Denis Hennequin issued a speech that could be summed up in two words: continuity and acceleration. The new Director General - December 1 - and future CEO - from January 15 - Hotel Group Accor thus lifted a corner of the veil on its orientations, while displaying the reserve of the newly named pattern.
Former CEO of McDonald's Europe referred to as "reasonable" within six months to a State of the premises of Accor House, "the gaze of the Administrator he is a member of the Board of Directors since May 2009, Editor's note is not necessarily that of manager." To do this, the successor of Gilles Pélisson will make a tour in Asia, the United States and Latin America from early January. Posing as a "trainee until 15 January" leader, Denis Hennequin however warned that "should not wait for six months to make a difference."

Change, admits, is more in "the implementation" of a strategy, which "does not change." In the context of an amplification of the development of Accor duty-free, the new Director General considered already that the operator can be even more ambitious in this area, in the BRICs, and notably in China particularly. Denis Hennequin, availing itself of its know-how of franchisor acquired after more than two decades in McDonalds, points out that this guidance is consistent with the policy of lesser intensity of real estate assets of Accor, the "asset light" in the jargon internal. Ready to go on the offensive, he announced even "a cannibalization for competitors", while is that reassuring for franchisees, particularly in France, that about the multiplication of free Hotels: "I will not development to their detriment", said, pointing out that the portfolio of brands of Accor offers franchisees of expansion opportunities.
The portfolio in question
So, this portfolio is well and truly in the heart of the reflections of the new pattern of Accor. The objective is to "give more personality to the trade marks". What could go through a possible supply crunch. "Can combine trademarks", thus indicates Denis Hennequin. He cut short, however, to the guesswork as to the assignment of Sofitel, which had been revived with the formalization of the departure of Gilles Pélisson. At first blush, the chain appears especially called for a new phase of expansion after its repositioning, found to be successful on the segment luxury (read below).
Finally, the new boss of Accor considers that he should "succeed in view of the work." A blow of hat to his predecessor, dropped by the Council despite the successful arrested strategy implementation. Denis Hennequin, which ensures to maintain "friendly relations" with Gilles Pélisson, is "here to stay", he promises, so Accor is in its second succession in five years. Former CEO of McDonald's Europe, which has made the choice of Accor "almost" naturally, not wishing to cross the Atlantic to reach the headquarters of McDonalds, is however warned. He has seen the level of requirement of "professional administrators" Colony Capital and Eurazeo, and also the appetite of the duo of shareholders of reference in terms of value creation. However, their commitment in Accor comes to expire in January... 2012.
