There are 4 main types of discrimination;
Direct discrimination
Indirect discrimination
Harassment
Victimisation
Follow the links for a definition and examples of each type of discrimination.
Discrimination may often not be obvious or even deliberate, but subtle behaviours, attitudes and ways of working can escalate into cases of discrimination which both individuals and employers can be liable for liability.
Being able to recognise discrimination when it occurs and putting in place policies and preventative measures to avoid discrimination occurring in the first place is necessary to ensure a safe and equal working environment for everyone.
