Equality reps face many barriers in securing recognition and time off to do their role. Tell us about the equality issues you deal with at work.
Equality Reps

The Wales TUC has been campaigning for statutory rights to time off for Equality Reps or other reps who also deal with equality issues.

We are running a survey for reps who deal with equalities issues in the workplace to find out what barriers they face in carrying out their role and the type of issues that they deal with. If you would like to fill in the survey please follow this link. The survey closes at the end of May 2009.

If you would like to pass on your comments and opinions about dealing with equality issues in your branch and workplace, including any barriers there are to promoting equality, or any successes you may have had, then please email Natasha Hirst on nhirst@tuc.org.uk or leave a comment in the comment boxes below.

Please let us know what kind of equality issues come forward and whether you feel that you have the facilities and time you need to deal with them.

All comments and opinions are important in helping the Wales TUC to campaign for rights for equality reps and to support reps in workplaces with the right resources and training.

Deaf Equality Training is more relevant than Deaf Awareness as it deals with the social model rather than the medical model and assessment via OCN is on completion of a portfolio stipulating changes to make the workplace or organisation more Deaf user friendly (customers/employees).
