(Nasdaq:BCSI), the leader in WAN optimization and SecureWeb Gateway, today announced that Shanghai Far East Securities has deployed BlueCoat Proxy SG appliances to expand its online financial services businesswithout compromising network security. By creating a secure portal that allowscustomers outside of the corporate network to access online financial services,ProxySG appliances protect Shanghai Far East Securities from malicious attacksaimed at disrupting the companys servers while accelerating response time forthe applications. However, by providing its clients withaccess to its application servers, Shanghai Far East Securities created thepotential for malicious attacks. By creating this safety net, the ProxySGappliances can block malicious threats such as denial of service attacks orother attacks that seek to overwhelm the application servers.

ProxySG appliances also enable Shanghai Far East Securities to accelerate theperformance of its customer facing applications by reducing processingrequirements per customer request. For frequently accessed content andinformation, Blue Coat ProxySG appliances cache the information locally. When acustomer requests the cached information, ProxySG appliances can deliver itwithout going back to the server, thereby eliminating redundant computingprocesses.
